About me
Here it goes...
I was born and raised in Taiwan, where my parents ran an office furniture store. I drew a lot as a child and thought I would be an artist, but when I was in junior high, I applied to an art school and failed the test, which was so discouraging that I stopped making art.
After graduation form college, I moved to Japan. I tried many different office jobs but nothing felt fulfilling. In 2011, when the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, I was so shaken by the experience that I began searching for my truth. I found life painting at EIBIS Atelier in Shibuya and it awoke something in me.
I decided to be an artist in 2015 and made the risky decision to leave Tokyo for New York. I found the Art Students League of New York and ended up falling in love with art again. Through instructors like Dan Thompson, Sharon Sprung, Dan Gheno, Costa Vavagiakis, and Ellen Eagle, I have honed my ability to take inspiration from life and translate that--through oils, graphite, or pastels--into art.
In recent years, I've explored doing portrait and pet commissions, which has led me to become more and more excited about doing pieces that feature both human and animal subjects in harmony.
